Senior Scientist at the Core Facility for Mass Spectrometry, Faculty of Life Sciences

If so, join our team at the Core Facility Mass spectrometry in Life Sciences at the Faculty of Life Sciences. This core facility participates in biological, ecological, nutritional and pharmaceutical projects across the Life Sciences. To fully exploit the collaborative potential of such a core facility, we are looking for a Senior Scientist with the knowledge, expertise, motivation and enthusiasm to lead this important facility.

Candidates should have relevant experience and proven skills in quantitative proteomics and metabolomics (mass spectrometry and bioinformatic analysis of mass spectrometry data). Moreover, candidates need expertise in research related to the broad field of life sciences. It is also essential that the successful candidate is highly motivated, able to work independently, and fully dedicated to manage this Core Facility.The position is currently limited to 6 months with the possibility of subsequent unlimited employment.




Duration of employment: 6 month/s
Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
The Senior Scientist will maintain the mass spectrometry facility and participate avtively in collaborative research projects and teaching courses in proteomics, metabolomics, physiology, and statistics.



The main tasks of the Senior Scientist are organizing and applying operation procedures in proteomics, developing new MS-based methods, organizing workshops and discussion groups for optimal exchange of technology and ensuring a smooth operation of the instruments and facilities. Part of these activities are also the interaction and exchange with other core facilities.


Profile:
The applicant has a PhD in biology, chemistry, biotechnology or any other related field and post-doctoral experience in the area of mass spectrometry. The applicant has experience in proteomic sample preparation, chromatography, mass spectrometry, MS data processing, data mining software and statistics. The applicant has extensive expertise in managing service facilities at a research institution and a track record in managing research projects from project design and execution via supervision of personnel and collaborative work. The applicant speaks fluently English and follows the scientific developments in the fields of proteomics and metabolomics.
