at the Research Group Software Architecture

The research group Software Architecture (led by Prof. Dr. Uwe Zdun) is part of the faculty for computer science and its focus is on research in the areas of software architecture, software design, and software engineering. The group is looking for highly motivated research assistants, PhD candidates. We offer an excellent working environment in a young, creative, highly motivated, and international team.

The announcement is made for four years, whereby the employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of four years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.



Duration of employment: 4 year/s

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
Participation in research, teaching and administration:

- Participation in research projects / research studies

- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations

- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.

- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement

- Supervision of students

- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums

- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration

The research topics should lie in the context of software architecture, design or engineering methods addressing specific topic areas such as:

- Microservice Architectures,

- APIs,

- Software Engineering for AI-Based Systems,

- Continuous Delivery (and DevOps),

- Blockchain Engineering,

- Infrastructure as Code,

- or Software Engineering for the Cloud/Containerization.


Profile:
- University degree: A successfully completed master's degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a closely related field, whereby knowledge of computer science is required.
- Didactic competence: Knowledge of and experience in teaching and working with students
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English is mandatory; excellent command of written and spoken German is recommended
- Ability to work in a team, strong social skills, independent and reliable work ethics.


Desirable qualifications are
- Teaching experience / experience in working with e-learning
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad
- Basic experience in research methods and academic writing
- Excellent knowledge of and interest in one or more of the research topics listed above.
- Excellent knowledge of and interest in programming and software design.
