The Vienna Doctoral School in Ecology and Evolution (VDSEE) is a doctoral training program at the University of Vienna providing an internationally competitive education and research environment for more than 160 doctoral students. The doc school is currently recruiting a coordinator with academic credentials to handle the school’s administrative, academic and strategic affairs in close collaboration with the (vice)directors of doc school. The optimal candidate should have a life science background and preferably expertise in academic administration, budget management as well as the competence and motivation to manage and internationally promote VDSEE. The employment is initially limited to 1 year with the option to become a permanent position.



Duration of employment: 1 year/s

Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §54 VwGr. IVa with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
The coordinator will be responsible for the following points:
- support of the directors in the daily management of the school
- budget administration and controlling
- organisation of regular international recruitment calls, selection process and interviews;
- tight liaison to and cooperation with the Study Service Center (SSC)
- management and/or monitoring of respective students’ requests or duties
- communication with students, professors, project partners and scientific guests of the school
- proactive maintenance of the doc school websites and social media packages for increased visibility of the school
- organisation of school activities (e.g. retreats, lectures, symposia, soft skill training)
- set up /curation of an alumni network


Profile:
- Academic degree, preferably in Life Sciences
- Excellent oral and written skills in English and German (the language of the Schools is English)
- Very good computer skills or/and motivation for further IT training (Office, typo3, SAP, i3v)
- experience in successful project management/coordination
- Independent, well-organised and reliable working style

Proactive and committed attitude as well as high social competence.
