at the Department of Food Chemistry and Toxicology

A PhD position for a university assistant (prae doc) is available at the Institute of Food Chemistry and Toxicology at the Faculty of Chemistry in the group of Ass.-Prof. Giorgia Del Favero. The position is advertised for 4 years, starting with a contract duration of 1,5 years which will automatically be extended to a duration of 4 years, unless the employer does submit a nonextension notification after 12 months.

Duration of employment: 4 year/s

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
Collaborate in research, teaching and administration:
- Work on research projects with a particular focus on the study of cell motility and the mechanosensory apparatus of the gut and how dietary xenobiotics may affect these physiological functions.
- Contribution to publications/scientific articles/lecturing activities.
- Completion of a dissertation agreement within 12-18 months is expected
- Participation in and independent teaching of courses in the scope of the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration

A degree in Chemistry with professional competences and practical experience in the field of toxicology and chemistry (especially advantageous in food and chemistry or toxicology) - Methodological skills in imaging microscopy image analysis, complex cell culture models, evaluation of cell motility - Didactic competences in the field of food chemistry and toxicology - High proficiency in oral and written English and German - Ability to work in a team Documents to be submitted - Letter of motivation - Scientific curriculum vitae - List of publications, proof of teaching experience (if available) - Short concept for a dissertation project (max 1 page) - Degree certificate

Desirable are
- Teaching experience / experience with e-learning
- Knowledge of university procedures and structures
- First experiences in scientific work
