at the Department of Islamic-Theological Studies
to 28.02.2026.

The department of Islamic-Theolgical Studies at the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies offers theological research and teaching in order to support the academic education of junior scientists in the field of islamic religious societies.

The employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 4 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.





Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
Participation in research, teaching and administration (The focus lies in the area of Islamic Religious Education.):
- Participation in research projects / research studies
- Participation in publications / academic articles
- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Supervision of students
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement


Profile:
- Completed studies (Diplom, Magister or Master's degree) in the field of Religious Education, Islamic Theology or Education
- Relevant knowledge in theory and empirical research methods in the field of Islamic Religious Education or Theology
- Professional competences in the field of theology and religious education studies
- Methodological competences in the field of religious education empirical research, didactical competences in teaching practice
- Commitment and resilience
- Ability to work in a team
- Independent work
- IT user skills
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of Turkish and Arabic is an advantage


Desirable qualifications are
- Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad
- Basic experience in research methods and academic writing
