at the Department of Musicology (Historical Musicology, Ethnomusicology and Systematic Musicology)

The Institute of Musicology at the University of Vienna is one of the largest in the world, with a dynamic team and a very broad research spectrum. To cover a leave, we are looking for a person with a PhD, research interest in the field of European music history after 1600 and a focus on music theatre.

The position is vacant for the period of absence of a member of staff.



Extent of Employment: 20 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This involves
- Developing and strengthening the independent research profile
- Involvement in research projects / research studies
- International publications and presentations
- Responsibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
- Preparing / writing a habilitation thesis
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration


Profile:
- Doctoral degree/PhD in musicology with a focus on music theatre
- Competence in the field of the history of musical multimedia
- Excellent didactic competence
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- IT user skills
- Ability to work in a team


In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have
- Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
- Experience of working on research projects
- Publications in renowned, subject-relevant media (peer-reviewed, depending on the professional standards)
- International presentation experience
Desirable qualifications are
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad
- Experience of supervising students
