The Department of Training Science (Prof. Mag. Dr. Robert Csapo) at the University of Vienna is offering a position as University Assistant (post doc) commencing 01/01/2022. The employment relationship is limited to 6 years.



Duration of employment: 6 year/s

Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
Areas of work:
Active participation in research, teaching and administration. This involves
- Developing and strengthening the independent research profile
- Responsibility for project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
- Preparing / writing a (publication-ready) habilitation thesis
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students (PhD and MSc) working on associated research projects
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
- Designing and conducting acute interventional, cross-sectional and long-term training studies to investigate the molecular mechanisms by which physical exercise (resistance, endurance, mixed) affects skeletal muscle function, growth and aging
- Using measurement equipment for biomolecular analyses (PCR, ELISA, Western blot, flow cytometry, …) as well as tools for the planning and control of training studies (dynamometry, EMG, ergometries, functional tests, …)
- Establishing techniques for the assessment of mitochondrial/aging/longevity biomarkers
- Contributing ideas for related research projects and leading third-party funding applications
- Writing and preparing scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally presenting international conference papers and posters
- Collaborating with colleagues from the Departments of Training Science and Sports Medicine, Exercise Physiology and Prevention (Molecular Exercise Physiology) as well as external specialists



Profile:
- PhD in a relevant field, such as sport/exercise science, biology or biochemistry
- Experience in the required laboratory-based measurement techniques (see above)
- Experience in managing and conducting human training studies
- Strong record of scientific publications and presentations
- Potential to generate novel and interesting ideas
- Potential to obtain research funding
- Teaching experience, including the use of e-learning platforms
- Experience in administering research projects
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write scientific publications, present research proposals and results, teach and contribute to research group meetings
- Excellent written and verbal skills in English; knowledge of German would be advantageous


In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have
- Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
- Experience of working on research projects
- Publications in renowned, subject-relevant media (peer-reviewed, depending on the professional standards)
- International presentation experience
Desirable qualifications are
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Experience abroad
- Experience of supervising students
