at the Centre for Sport Science and University Sports

The position is located at the Institute of Sports Science at the Centre for Sports Science and University Sports (ZSU). The ZSU is a centre of the University of Vienna and is located in the 15th district of Vienna. The Institute of Sports Science (ISW) as scientific subunit and the University Sports Institute (USI) as central institution of university sports in Vienna are assigned to it. The ISW is the largest research institution in the field of sports science in Austria. The following two main areas of research are in the foreground: "Education and Health Promotion" and "Performance through Intervention". Researchers at the ISW are involved in EU, FWF and other projects and research platforms. The Department of Sports Education/Didactics & Sports History offers you the opportunity to research and teach in an internationally networked team and to develop your own research profile. We work on various research topics and are involved in various international research projects. In order to strengthen our field of work and further develop our research, we are looking for a committed person who is planning to do a doctorate in the field of sports education/didactics. We offer flexible working hours, team-oriented work and good university training opportunities.
The employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 3 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months. There is the possibility of an extension up to 4 years.

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
Participation in research, teaching and administration:
- Participation in research projects / research studies
- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration

- Professional competence in the field of sports pedagogy, MA-thesis (or equivalent) with reference to sports pedagogy/didactics (preferably with respect to the topics diversity, inclusion)
- Methodological competence: outstanding knowledge in qualitative and/or quantitative methods
- Didactic competence: experience with teaching in university and/or schools
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Good command of written and spoken English
- IT user skills: i.e., SPSS, Atlas.ti, MAXQDA
- Ability to work in a team, to work independently, and reliability

Desirable qualifications are
- Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- Cooperation in research projects in the field of sports pedagogy/didactics
- Experience abroad
- Basic experience in research methods and academic writing
