The Journalism Studies Center and the Political Communication Research Group of the Department of Communication at the University of Vienna are looking for two third-party employees (prae-doc).
The project "Emotions in Political Journalism: A Country Comparison" is funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF and will start in October 2023 in cooperation with Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. It deals with the role of emotions in the work of political journalists and politicians in Austria and the Czech Republic. We would like to address applicants who have a Master's degree by the beginning of the project at the latest.




Duration of employment: 3 year/s

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
- Collaboration in the research project "Emotions in Political Journalism” (esp. conception, implementation (esp. interviews, focus groups, case studies), and evaluation of results)
- Contribution to publications/scientific articles and lecturing activities
- Participation in development of funding applications
- Participation in the organization of project workshops and other administrative activities within the project
- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12 months


Profile:
- Completed master's degree in journalism and communication studies or related studies
- Experience with qualitative methods such as interviews or focus groups is an advantage
- Data analysis skills and/or MAXQDA competencies are an advantage
- High level of communication skills
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken German essential
- Very good written and spoken English skills an advantage
- Very good computer skills
- Ability to organize and work in a team
