The Department of Political Science, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, addresses all major fields of political science. It is dedicated to innovative and problem-oriented research and provides students with a wide range of specialisations. Members of the Department study the transformation of governance, statehood and democracy across different policy areas, geographical regions and political areas.

The employment is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to 4 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-extension within 12 months.



Duration of employment: 4 year/s

Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
- Participation in research, teaching and administration in the field of Political Theory (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Oliver Marchart)
- Participation in research projects
- Participation in project application and acquisition of third-party funds
- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
- Participation in the development of a media platform for political theory
- Participation in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposia
- We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement in the area of political theory within 12-18 months
- Participation in teaching and teaching courses independently according to the collective bargaining agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration


Profile:
- University Degree (Diploma, MA) in the study field of political science or a related study / focus on political theory
- Professional competence in the history of political ideas and in contemporary political theory with a focus on approaches of critical thought and radical democracy
- Excellent knowledge of German and English
- Computer literacy
- Ability to work in teams


Desirable qualifications are
- Experience in teaching / experience in e-learning
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- International experience
- Basic experience in academic research
